Asleep At The Wheel to Perform at Black Oak Casino
One of the strongest names in Country Music for the last 40 years will be at Black Oak Casino on June 17th
A star band that has won nine Grammy Awards will be taking their talent to Black Oak Casino next month. Asleep At The Wheel, a Country Western Swing band featuring Ray Benson, has charted more than 20 singles on the Billboard country charts. The band is based in Austin, TX, where they have performed in on the PBS show Austin City Limits a record-setting 10 times.
Asleep At The Wheel has been honored with numerous awards over their career. In 2007, they received six Austin Music Awards, including Band of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Country Band of the Year, Record Producer of the Year, Male Vocals of the Year, and Acoustic Guitar Player of the Year.
The band has toured with Bob Dylan and George Strait and collaborated with the Dixie Chicks on “Roly Poly,” which was nominated for an award for Vocal Event of the Year from the Country Music Association. In February of 2009, the band’s front man Ray Benson collaborated with Willie Nelson to release Willie and the Wheel, an epic album which has become an instant classic.
