Black Oak Casino succeeds in Weight Loss Challenge
As U.S. obesity problem reaches epidemic proportions, company works to improve the health of its employees
Tuolumne, CA - January 14, 2009 - As part of a company-wide wellness program, Black Oak Casino Team Members lost a total of 1144.25 lbs. through a 12-week Weight Loss Challenge program in 2008. They implemented the challenge of "A Game where Everybody Loses," through their "I Am Well" campaign. 154 Team Members participated in the challenge, all improving their overall health and wellness. Team Members were given weekly incentives, which included exercise journals, pedometers, resistance bands, Frisbees, and informational handouts.
Anne Fauss, Women's Weight Loss Challenge winner, was thrilled that Black Oak Casino presented the Biggest Loser Challenge to the casino. "We had so much support from management, our team captains, and one another," said Fauss. "Black Oak Casino has a real sense of community."
Men's Weight Loss Challenge winner, Mike Harmon, feels that this challenge has given him the "opportunity to realize that if you want something bad enough, anything is possible." Harmon feels confident that this is just the beginning of many changes to come in his life.
