New Tuolumne Me-Wuk Indian Health & Wellness Center and Dental Clinic Now Accepting New Patients
State-of-the-art facilities are open to all residents of Tuolumne County and the surrounding communities
Sonora, CA - January 19, 2009 - The Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians announced today that its new Health & Wellness Center and Dental Clinic in Sonora are now accepting new patients and are continuing to grow to meet the needs of the community. The state-of-the-art facilities provide affordable family health care and dental services for Native Americans, as well as the entire community.
The Health & Wellness Center provides treatment of acute illness, healthcare maintenance, immunizations, general physicals, family planning, and more. The Dental Clinic offers general dental care, gum treatment, tooth-colored fillings, extractions, dentures, and minor oral surgery. The Dental Clinic can see patients as young as 1-year-old. Both facilities accept Medi-Cal as well as most private insurances and are open weekdays from 8am until 5pm.
In addition to the two clinics in Sonora, the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians also operates a Health Center and on-site pharmacy in Tuolumne. The family health care center provides pediatric, psychiatric, and general medical care as well as minor surgical procedures and general health education. Child and adolescent psychiatry, diabetes education, nutritional counseling, and drug & alcohol counseling are also available. The Health Center is open weekdays from 8am until 5pm. The pharmacy is open weekdays from 8:30am until 12:30pm and 1:30pm until 5:30pm.
Their staff includes several family practice physicians, dentists, family nurse practitioners, a physician assistant, a registered dietician, a substance abuse counselor, as well as specialists in podiatry, pediatrics, child and adolescent psychiatry, and psychology.
