Battle at Black Oak Lanes Set for May 29-31
Come play with the pros at Black Oak Casino’s big bowling event
Bowl with professionals or come watch them at the Black Oak Casino’s 3rd annual Battle at Black Oak Lanes. The big event will run from May 29-31 and any bowler who wants to play with the pros can register for the Pro-Am tournament on Friday, May 29th.
This year’s Professional Bowling Association (PBA) pros who are participating are Tony Reyes, who owns five PBA Regional Tour titles and Missy Belinder, who has shot 300 games 18 times.
35-year-old Tony Reyes of San Bruno, CA is only the third bowler in history to shoot a 300 on TV and has nearly $480,000 in total PBA winnings. In addition to his PBA Regional Tour titles, he owns one PBA Tour title. In the 2007-08 season, he finished 25th in the season-opening Japan Cup and 28th in the USBC Masters. He also won the title at the 2006 Motor City Classic over Wes Malott.
27-year-old Missy Belinder of Fullerton, CA became the first woman ever to join the PBA in 2004, and is also the first woman ever to win two PBA Regional titles. She bowled her first 300 game at the age of 14, and was the youngest person ever to qualify for the Team USA Trials. In addition, Belinder was voted one of the top 100 bowling coaches in the world by Bowlers Journal International in 2007 and 2008.
As part of the event, Reyes and Belinder will hold a Meet and Greet for local youth from 11am-noon on Saturday, May 30th. Seats for the Battle at Black Oak Lanes tournament are free, and are first-come, first served. The entry fee for bowlers who want to play in the tournament ranges from $50 to $120, depending on the package selected. Spectators are welcome as there will be 180 bleacher seats available for people to see the pros in action.
